Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 fails to initialize when launched on Windows 7 OS

 

There are many reasons why this might happen; you may begin the troubleshooting by updating the operating system and its drivers and software.

Before running the program, we recommend downloading and installing the latest Microsoft Windows updates (Windows Operating System) for the following:

1. Microsoft .NET Framework 4 -

2. Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Redistributable (Standalone Installer) -

3. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable -

4. Microsoft Direct X End- User Runtime Web Installer -
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

5. Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) -
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

6. Install the latest driver of your video card/ graphics card. You will find the latest driver on your video card manufacturer's website. Check if you are running the latest video drivers for your video card. If you have an older version, download the latest video driver (a reboot may be required).

To verify the specification of your Video / Graphics Card:

      • Windows Vista / Windows 7
        - Click Start
        - On the Search Box, type dxdiag then press Enter
        - The DirectX Diagnostic Tool dialog box will appear.
        - Click Display tab and the Device information will appear.

For On- Board Video / Graphics Card, we recommend to contact your computer's manufacturer Technical Support for specific latest Driver Updates.

Restart your computer after completely removing the software and installing the updates for any changes to take effect.

We also recommend you to download and install the latest Service Pack 1 and 2 Updates for VideoStudio Pro X4 by clicking on the download links below:

Note: Before the Installation or during downloading, you will be asked to save the file, kindly save it on your preferred location. After the download process, you will then be asked to run the file, please click on "Run" to start the installation process.

Installation of the Updates should be in this order as follows:
(1) VideoStudio® Pro X4 Service Pack 1

Restart the computer again after successfully installing the product.

    Don't think I'll buy corel again, paid good money for this program that won't work

    i'm with you Daniel. It wont start even after installing patches, disabling virus scanners, running as administrator, installing utilities, disabling windows security updates. What more does one have to do after paying good money, leaving numerous support requests and reading all the forum suggestions. Ill just use the default windows DVD maker. At least that works.
