How to configure Paint Shop Pros Send option to work with AOL s email client

Step by step instructions on how to configure PaintShop Pro or PhotoAlbum to work with AOL email client software.



AOL versions 7, 8, and 9have included the option to configure the AOL email program to function as the default MAPI client on the computer. This functionality will allow the Send functions found within programs such as Paint Shop ProandPaint Shop Photo Albumto properly function with AOL email users.

Use the following procedure to configure AOL 7, 8 or 9to function as the default MAPI client.

 

For AOL 7 or 8 users:

  1. Shut down the program that you are trying to use the Send function with and then sign on to AOL 7 or 8.
  2. Click the Keyword button.
  3. In the resulting Keyword dialog, type the word Preferences into the text box, and click the Go button.
  4. In the resulting Preferences dialog, click on the Association link to select America Online as your preferred application for web browsing, e-mail and newsgroups.
  5. In the resulting Associations Preferences dialog, click the OK button.
  6. AOL will now be your default program for e-mail, Internet browsing, and accessing newsgroups. Restart the program with the Send function you are trying to use.
  7. The File| Send function within the above mentioned programs should now function properly with the AOL email program. Make sure to be connected to AOL when attempting to use this function ( you may be prompted to login to AOL if you are not currently connected when accessing the Send function).

For AOL 9 users:

  1. Shut down the program that you are trying to use the Send function with and then sign on to AOL 9.
  2. Click the Keyword button.
  3. In the resulting Keyword dialog, type the word Preferences into the text box, and click the Go button. You will see three tabs on the top of this window.
  4. Choose the By Category tab in the list of categories.
  5. Click on the Communications link.
  6. Click on the AOL as Default link. You will receive a prompt to use AOL as your default email program. Choose Ok.
  7. Restart the program with the Send function you are trying to use. The File| Send function within the program should now function properly with the AOL email program. Make sure to be connected to AOL when attempting to use this function ( you may be prompted to login to AOL if you are not currently connected when accessing the Send function).
  8. Another option for AOL 9 users is the new IMAP technology offered by AOL. This allows you to use programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora and IncrediMail with your AOL email account.

For AOL 9.0 Optimized users:

  1. Shut down the program that you are trying to use the Send function with and then sign on to AOL 9.
  2. Click the Keyword button.
  3. In the resulting Keyword dialog, type the word Preferences into the text box, and click the Go button. You will see two options for View; By Category and Index. Choose By Category.
  4. Under the Communications section, click View All.
  5. Click the 4th item in the list. This is called AOL as Default. You will be prompted to Click OK to set AOL as your default application. Click OK to make this setting.
  6. Restart the program with the Send function you are trying to use. The File > Send function within the above mentioned programs should now function properly with the AOL email program. Make sure to be connected to AOL when attempting to use this function (you may be prompted to login to AOL if you are not currently connected when accessing the Send function).
