How to import Avid or Pinnacle Studio App projects in Pinnacle Studio 16

Pinnacle Studio 16 allows the import of projects from the Avid Studio App. This was also possible in Avid Studio 1.1, but in that version it required you to install the Avid Studio App Extender. With Pinnacle Studio, this features works natively.

If the project was saved to iTunes
To retrieve the project:

  1. Connect your iPad to iTunes on the PC.
  2. In iTunes, select your device, and then locate Apps in the buttons along the top.
  3. Click on Apps, which opens a page that includes the heading File Sharing.
  4. Among the sharing sources listed, you should see Avid Studio. Click it for a list that should include the project you just exported, as a file with the extension axmp.
  5. Select this, then click Save to.
  6. After the transfer completes, the project archive will be available for importing in Pinnacle Studio.
  7. In Pinnacle Studio go to File > Import Avid Studio App Projects

If the project was saved to iCloud
To retrieve the project:

  1. Go to the iCloud link specified in the Avid Studio iPad app when you exported the project. The link was presented upon export and you had the option to email the link to yourself as well.
  2. You will be prompted to save the project file. Save the file to an easy to find location.
  3. In Pinnacle Studio go to File > Import Avid Studio App Projects
