WordPerfect® Mail fails to start. What do I do?


Rebuilding the Datastore

  1. Shutdown WordPerfect Mail (if it's running).
  2. Go to Start and up to Run.
  3. If WordPerfect Mail came as part of WordPerfect Office 12, Small Business Edition, In theOpen: box type this line (including the quote marks):
    "c:\Program Files\WordPerfect Office 12\bin\WPMail.exe" -r
  4. If you have WordPerfect Mail as a stand alone product, In the Open: box type this line (including the quote marks):
    "c:\Program Files\WordPerfect Mail\Programs\bin\WPMail.exe" -r
  5. If you have WordPerfect Office X3 with WordPerfect Mail included, In the Open: box type this line (including the quote marks):
    "c:\Program Files\WordPerfect Mail\Programs\bin\WPMail.exe" -r
  6. Click Ok
    This will open a dialog box that will rebuild the Datastore.
  7. When the button at the bottom says Done click on it.
  8. Launch WordPerfect Mail.


If the above steps did not work:

  1. Click on Start and go up to Run. Type in %APPDATA% into the Open: box and click Ok.
    • Go into the Corel folder.
    • Go into the WordPerfect Mail folder.
    • Right-Click on the Workspace.csx and click on Rename.
  2. Change the file extension from csx to old. The file should read Workspace.old
  3. Close the Window and launch WordPerfect Mail


If the problem still continues:

  1. Click on Start and go up to Run. Type in %APPDATA% into the Open: box and click Ok.
  2. Go into the Corel folder.
  3. Go into the WordPerfect Mail folder.
  4. Right-Click on the file Workspace.csx and click on Rename.
  5. Change the file extension from csx to old. The file should read Workspace.old
  6. Right-Click on the file WorkSpace.bsx and click on Rename, change to the WorkSpace.odd
  7. Close the Window and launch WordPerfect Mail



Renaming the Datastore

Should rebuilding your datastore fail to resolve the issue, rename the datastore and launch WordPerfect Mail. Once WordPerfect Mail has successfully launched rename the datastore back. In some cases, this will restore the application back to a working state.

  1. Click on Start and go up to Run. Type in %APPDATA% into the Open: box and click Ok.
  2. Go into the Corel folder. Right click on the folder WordPerfect Mail and left click onrename. Call the folder WordPerfect Mail Old. Minimize the application data window.
  3. Open WordPerfect Mail.
    NOTE: If this is your first time launching WordPerfect Mail successfully skip over the remaining steps.
  4. Cancel out of the Import Wizzard and close the application.
