This document outlines how to manually remove Corel Painter X (10) from systems running Windows Vista, and XP should the application fail to uninstall using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. To safely remove Corel Painter X (10) without using the uninstaller, follow the steps listed below.
- Log on to a user account with administrative privileges since "Limited" or "Power User" accounts won't let Corel software install, uninstall, or run properly.
- Disable your anti-virus/spyware, and firewall during this clean re-installation procedure.
For Windows Vista:
1. (Vista): Manually delete Corel Painter X (10) program folders from the hard drive.
a. Click Windows logo (Start) | All Programs | Accessories | Run | type Explorer and click OK.
b. Browse to X:\Program Files\Corel\Corel (X represents the drive where Corel Painter X (10) had been installed).
c. Highlight and delete the Corel Painter 10 folder.
2. (Vista): Manually delete the Corel User data directories.
a. Click Windows logo (Start) | All Programs | Accessories | Run | type %appdata% and click.OK.
b. Browse to the Corel folder.
c. Highlight and delete the "Painter 10" folder.
d. Click Windows logo (Start) | All Programs | Accessories | Run | type %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\corel\ and press enter.
e. Highlight and delete the "Corel Painter 10" folder.
3. (Vista):Remove Corel Painter X (10) registry keys from the Windows Registry.
WARNING: Editing the Windows Registry is NOT recommended for those unfamiliar with registry editing. Be sure to backup the registry prior to making any changes.
4. Remove Corel Painter X (10) registry keys from the Windows Registry.

Click Windows logo (Start) | All Programs | Accessories|Run | type Regedit.
Delete the following keys:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\COREL\Painter\10.0
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\COREL\Setup\Painter 10
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\CorelReg\PF10
5. (Vista): Please make sure you restart your System, so that the changes will take affect
For Windows XP:
1. (XP): Manually delete Corel Painter X (10) program folders from the hard drive.
a. Click Start | Run | type Explorer and click OK.
b. Browse to X:\Program Files\Corel (X represents the drive where Corel Painter X (10) had been installed).
c. Highlight and delete the Corel Painter 10 folder.
2. XP): Manually delete the Corel User data directories.

3. (XP):Remove Corel Painter X (10) registry keys from the Windows Registry.
