Uninstall and Reinstall instructions for Avid Studio

This FAQ will guide you through an uninstall and reinstall of Avid Studio. There are two sections. Section 1 should cover most uninstall and reinstall needs. Section 2 covers some problems the basic uninstall does not.

Section 1: Basic Uninstall and Reinstall Steps

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel.
  2. In Windows Vista and Windows 7 click on Programs - Uninstall a program. If you are in Classic View, double-click on Programs and Features.
  3. Select Avid Studio and click the Uninstall button. Follow any on-screen instructions to remove the software.
  4. If you have an install disc: Insert your Avid Studio disc into the DVD drive. The DVD should auto-launch. If it does not, use Windows Explorer to browse to the DVD. Look In the Setup folder, click on the setup.exe file to begin the installation.
  5. If you have a download version: If you have a download version, start the installation of the Studio software by locating the Downloads folder that was created in the download, open it, and double click on the AvidStudio_Part-1-of-2.exe file to begin the install.

Section 2: Advanced Uninstall and Reinstall Steps

If the above steps fail, or you have the same problem in Studio after the uninstall and reinstall procedure, try the following steps:

  1. Go to Start - Control Panel.
  2. In Windows Vista and Windows 7 click on Programs - Uninstall a program. If you are in Classic View, double-click on Programs and Features.
  3. Select Avid Studio and click the Uninstall button. Follow any on-screen instructions to remove the software.
  4. Delete the Avid Studio folder. By default the location for this is C:\Program Files\Avid\Studio (C:\Program Files (x86)\Avid\Studio on 64 bit systems). Note: This folder may or may not be present depending on what contents were installed.
  5. If you have an install disc: Insert your Avid Studio disc into the DVD drive. The DVD should auto-launch. If it does not, use Windows Explorer to browse to the DVD. Look In the Setup folder, click on the setup.exe file to begin the installation.
  6. If you have a download version: If you have a download version, start the installation of the Studio software by locating the Downloads folder that was created in the download, open it, and double click on the AvidStudio_Part-1-of-2.exe file to begin the install.
