Have you ever wanted to show your vacation to your friends and family but photos alone just weren't enough to share that full experience? In this tutorial you will learn how to tag locations onto photographs, connect to Dropbox, and then use the Share My Trip feature to upload not only your vacation photos but an interactive virtual trip to all of the destinations you visited.
You will learn how to:
- Tag the locations of your photos.
- Use Share My Trip to share your vacation with your friends and family.
1. Open the file in PaintShop Pro and make sure you are using the Manage Workspace.
In the Manage Workspace you will notice that there are collections of files available for you to navigate through on the left hand side of the screen. This will allow you to locate the folder containing your photos. After you have selected it, thumbnail images will appear at the bottom of the screen.
By default, the first image in the folder will be highlighted in the tray and also appear in the center of the screen. Any information about the photo such as size, type and date will appear in the column Info on the right.
2. Click on the globe icon above the Info Palette to view the world map.
3. Zoom into the map to locate the city, establishment, or precise spot where your photo or photos were taken.
To add more than one image to a location, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard while selecting multiple images from the tray.
4. Click on the green pointer icon, move it to the spot on the map where the photos were taken and click again to pin the location.
5. PaintShop Pro will pop up a message to confirm the location. Click OK, and you will see a small icon of red pointer appear in the bottom right corner of the thumbnails.
This icon indicates that a location has been assigned to an image. If you have a smart phone or camera with GPS enabled, your photos may already have coordinates associated with them; if that is the case, you will not need to assign locations to those images.
6. When you've finished marking the locations of the images, click on the Share My Trip icon just above the thumbnail tray.
The first time you use Share My Trip, the Getting Started window will pop up and display useful information. This window will pop up each time you use Share My Trip until you disable it by checking ""Don't show this window again"", in the bottom left corner of the window.
7. Give your vacation a title in the Share My Trip window and then click Next.
Next, you will be asked if you want to upload to Dropbox now and share the link on Facebook.
8. Click Yes, upload my photo map to a public Dropbox folder. This will automatically load the login page for www.dropbox.com on your default web browser.
For more information on how Dropbox works or how to create an account, visit www.dropbox.com/register and click the link for Help Center in the Support menu.
After logging into Dropbox a new window will appear that says The app PaintShop Pro would like to connect with your Dropbox.
When you click Allow to this message, a new window will load saying Your Dropbox account is now connected with PaintShop Pro! You can now minimize the browser window and return to Paintshop Pro.
9. By default, the first image selected will appear as the thumbnail on the album when you share the photos. To change this image, use the arrow icons below to select the thumbnail you want to use.
10. Put a check mark in Share the link on Facebook and then click Next. If you are not currently logged in, you will be prompted to login to your Facebook account. The first time you use this feature, you will be asked to allow Paintshop Pro to connect with Facebook.
The next screen will display the upload status as the photos and coordinates are loaded onto Dropbox; this process may take a long time depending on how many photos are being shared.
When the process is complete you will be prompted to write a comment about the post and then Share to Facebook.
After you have given the post a description and clicked Share, the link will appear on your Facebook profile page.
11. Click on the Facebook post and a new window will open displaying a Google map and a tray of photos.
When somebody clicks on your photo, it will display in the center of the screen and the map will also zoom into that location.
If the viewer clicks Satellite in the upper right corner, they will be able to see the Google Earth image of the spot where the photo was taken, and if the photo was taken in an location covered by Google Street View, clicking on the orange person icon will split the screen and display Google Street View. This will allow the viewer to drag the cursor around that portion of the screen to see what that area looks like in all directions.
